Overview
The Muvment driver app is a work tool for professional drivers operating Muvment fleet vehicles. We collect only the information we need to assign trips to you, guide and record vehicle inspections, confirm who is driving, pay your allowances and reimbursements, and keep drivers, clients, and vehicles safe. This policy describes those practices in plain language so you know exactly what happens to your information.
Some of the information here is needed for the app to work at all. If you use the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app and speak with the Muvment operations team.
Who we are
The Muvment driver app is part of Muvment, operated by Autogirl Limited. In this policy, "Muvment", "we", and "us" refer to Autogirl Limited, which is the data controller responsible for the information collected through the app. For any question about this policy or your data, contact us using the details in the "Contact us" section below.
Information we collect
Your driver account is created for you by the Muvment operations team. There is no self-registration. We collect the following categories of information:
- Account and login details: your email address and password. Password attempts are limited, and repeated failed attempts temporarily lock the account for your protection.
- Identity and contact details: your first name, last name, and phone number. These are provided by Muvment and shown to you in the app as read-only.
- Bank and payment details: your bank account number, bank name, and account holder name, used only to pay your allowances and reimbursements.
- Trip and work activity: the trips assigned to you, their categories, timestamps, start and end times, hours worked, extra-time records, trip history, and the payment requests you submit.
- Vehicle inspection records: the exterior, interior, and health-check photos you capture during pre-ride and post-ride checklists, along with the vehicle details, odometer reading, and fuel level you enter.
- Your driver photo (selfie): a photo of your face in professional attire, captured during the pre-ride checklist to confirm who is driving.
- Photo metadata: the date, time, and GPS location automatically attached to inspection photos, plus the total time taken to complete a checklist.
- Device and technical information: device type, operating system version, app version, a push-notification token, session tokens, IP address, and diagnostic or crash logs.
- Communications: when you use the in-app call button to reach a client, the app opens your phone dialer to place the call.
Location and GPS data
Location is important to how the app works, so we want to be clear about it.
- We collect your device GPS location at the moment you capture each inspection photo. This location is attached to the photo as evidence of where and when the vehicle was inspected, which protects you against false damage or dispute claims.
- We use location to power navigation and estimated arrival times when you open directions to a pickup. Turn-by-turn navigation is provided by Google Maps.
- The app does not continuously track or broadcast your live location in the background, and it does not share your real-time location with clients.
- You control location permission through your device settings. If you turn location off, photo location tagging and in-app navigation will not work, which may affect your ability to complete checklists and trips.
Camera, photos, and your selfie
The app needs access to your device camera so you can complete inspections and confirm your identity.
- Camera access is used to capture required vehicle photos (exterior from four angles, interior, and health-check images) and your driver selfie.
- Your selfie is used to confirm that the assigned driver is the person operating the vehicle. We do not use it for facial recognition or to build a biometric profile.
- Photos are uploaded to secure cloud storage and kept as part of the vehicle handover record. If you are offline, photos are queued on your device and uploaded when a connection is restored.
- You should only photograph the vehicle and yourself as instructed. Please avoid capturing other people or unrelated personal information in inspection photos.
How we use your information
- Assign trips to you and show your schedule, client, pickup, and vehicle details.
- Guide you through pre-ride and post-ride checklists and record the condition of the vehicle at each handover.
- Confirm the identity of the driver operating each vehicle.
- Provide navigation and estimated arrival times to pickup locations.
- Review and process your payment and reimbursement requests and pay them into your bank account.
- Send you push notifications about new trip assignments and updates.
- Resolve operational disputes using documented photo and timestamp evidence.
- Keep the service secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and enforce our terms and driver policies.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability and performance of the app.
- Meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
Bank details and payments
Your bank account details are shown in the app as read-only and are used solely to pay your salary-related allowances and to reimburse approved expenses. The app itself does not process card payments. Payment requests you submit move through review before any payment is made, and we keep records of these requests and payments for accounting and audit purposes. If your bank details are incorrect, contact the Muvment operations team to have them corrected.
Where your data is processed
We are based in Nigeria and process your information there. Some of our service providers, such as Google Maps, Firebase, and cloud hosting and storage providers, operate globally, so limited data may be processed or stored on servers outside Nigeria. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your information remains protected in line with this policy and applicable data-protection law.
How long we keep data
We keep your information for as long as you have an active driver account and for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy.
- Trip, inspection, and payment records are retained while you are engaged with Muvment and for a reasonable period afterward, to resolve disputes, meet financial and tax obligations, and comply with the law.
- Inspection photos and metadata are kept as part of the vehicle handover history for the period needed to handle any related claim or dispute.
- Account and login data are removed or anonymised after your account is closed, unless we are required to retain specific records by law.
How we protect your data
- All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
- Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing and are never stored in plain text.
- Session tokens expire after a period of inactivity, and repeated failed logins temporarily lock the account.
- You can enable optional biometric login (fingerprint or face) on supported devices for faster, secure access.
- Access to driver data inside Muvment is limited to staff who need it for their role.
No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly if a problem occurs. Keep your login details private and do not share your account.
Your rights and choices
Subject to Nigerian data-protection law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you have rights over your personal information:
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: ask us to fix inaccurate details. Some fields (such as your name, contact, and bank details) are managed by the operations team, so corrections are made through them.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and personal data, subject to records we must keep by law (see the next section).
- Objection and restriction: ask us to limit certain processing in specific circumstances.
- Permissions: control camera, location, and notification access at any time through your device settings.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Deleting your account
You can request deletion of your Muvment driver account and associated personal data at any time by emailing privacy@muvment.ng or by contacting the operations team. Because driver accounts are linked to your engagement with Muvment, we will confirm your request and then delete or anonymise your personal data, except for records we are required to keep for legal, tax, financial, or dispute-resolution reasons (for example, payment history and inspection records tied to a claim). We will tell you what, if anything, is retained and why.
Age requirement
The Muvment driver app is intended only for professional adult drivers who are at least 18 years old and engaged by Muvment. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Third-party services
The app relies on trusted third-party services to function, including Google Maps for navigation and Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications. When you use these features, the relevant provider may process limited data (such as location for navigation or a device token for notifications) under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Google's privacy policy for more detail on how it handles data in its services.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the app or the law changes. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or your data, or you want to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@muvment.ng, or reach out to the Muvment operations team through the channels provided to you.
